The Active Galiano Community Fund is Starting to Grow

Dear Galiano Island,

[ This newsletter has been sponsored by The Corner Store. Please thank Daniel for his contribution to the Active Galiano Community Fund next time you're shopping there. ]

Active Galiano has turned two important corners lately, and it's time to celebrate them with everyone that has helped us get to this point by putting their content into the site.

First, as of this week, we're now appearing on the FRONT PAGE for Google searches for "Galiano Island". This means that people who don't know about the "Active Galiano" brand will be able to discover this website. We're currently above 500 unique visitors per month and use is still growing.

Second, we've gathered our first $100 for advertising and we're figuring out the plan on how to direct that $100 somewhere good, via a vote of account holders. We think that that $100 is going to grow to at least 10 times that figure, hopefully more, but the important point is that 100% of what we gather will be plowed back into community development projects. We want the money to go toward enabling further sustainable community on the island.

On the advertising front, you'll now see a block on most pages on the site that cycles through the sponsors. How do you become a sponsor? Just send me $100 for one year's worth of "community fund sponsorship status". Your directory entry will then start being promoted in various places around the site and from time to time, you'll start to appear in mail-outs like this one. (See The Corner Store above.)

So with that, check out the calendar for the upcoming events. It's a big weekend coming up with good music and good art and a fantastic soccer tournament too! And check out the classifieds... you may recognize those as being the same ones that are in the printed frame on the Corner Store bulletin board.

cheers!

On behalf of everyone who's ever put an event into the calendar...

THANK YOU
