It's clear to me now that Active Galiano has reached a certain kind of critical mass. Thank you to all the very many of you who have started putting your own events into the Calendar. Our website wouldn't get anywhere if it wasn't for your contributions. For my part, I'm now ready to start pushing all of our content up as many physical real world flag poles as I can find. If you have any additional ideas about how our data (events, classifieds, ...) can be used, please do let me know!

I'm happy to report that the Activity Centre Society & Fitness Centre will be using our Calendar from now on. This is a big win. The Activity Centre is host to far more things than you might be aware of, and it's a group that I hope you'll connect with out in the real world. Stay tuned!

Welcome back! Refreshed from a holiday break?

Thanks for a Great 2009! Looking back over this year's calendar, it's clear that Galiano is on the move.

2010 is going to be ActiveGaliano's year. We'll have a site redesign, some simplification of features, an expansion of the 'Directory', and hopefully a much increased subscriber base. (And will 2010 finally be the year that we get the 'easy printouts'?!)

GO LIONS !

I'm happy to report a very successful meeting with the Lions last night. They showed me a tremendous amount of hospitality and gave me more time during their meeting than I deserved. In the end, I believe they came away sharing my vision for bolstering Galiano's ability to reach out to ourselves and visitors through the web.

I'm very pleased to announce that the Lion's will be using ActiveGaliano's Calendar feature, and they'll be entering their events very early in the new year. They've also got an entry in the new "Directory". (see below).

With the OCP committees going full steam ahead (hot vapor used to power huge boats, right?) you might think that our Calendar has been taken over completely by politics. Please stay tuned for a push to get all the rest of the island's culture groups keeping us informed via our calendar.

In the meantime though, the Classifieds section appears to have picked up steam. Sneaky eh?

The real scoop here is that this musician is on tour in our region and has neglected to include a stop on Galiano, but has included Mayne and Salt Spring.

If you're keen to attend we're thinking you have two options:

a) join the list of folks encouraging him to come to Galiano on Nov. 4th

b) attend one of the performances already scheduled elsewhere
