Here are our TWO submissions:
Galiano Community School has more and more young students enrolling, however, the playground equipment is dated and frankly, not as safe as it should be. We want a safe, fun playground for all the children!
We especially need new playground equipment for the younger children to replace the old log and tire equipment. This would make our Community School that much more attractive for families to use.
There are fall sales for 40% off new playground equipment, so it is a good time to do this!
The Galiano Health Care Society is responsible for operating and maintaining the Health Center to a quality that meet the basis sanitary medical standard. To that end, we need to replace our 20 years old carpet by tiles or hard linoleum. To reduce the high risk of infection, we also need to replace all the taps throughout the facility.We already have invested money in making the building earthquake proof.By keeping the Center safe and clean we contribute to sustainable medical service to the islanders and visitors as well as sustainable employment for local residents.All money received by The Active Galiano Community Fund would go towards the new flooring and faucets replacement.Our goal is to have all the work completed by January 30th, 2012.
