Agriculture and Food Security Advisory Committee - Galiano Gently Growing - This is It!
In the past 2 years, the community has begun to discuss farming and food security in a fairly comprehensive way. We believe that the ideas brought forward in our paper will strengthen the initiatives already begun and support new steps. We also believe that there is a great need for education in the area of farming and food security as we face the challenges ahead. We believe that we must increase our food production in a way that is ecologically sustainable and reduce our reliance on food grown unsustainably elsewhere. In other words, we need to take greater responsibility for our impact, not only on our local environment, but on the world’s environment.
We appreciate the opportunity to have worked on this Advisory Committee and are excited about the potential for Galiano to become a vibrant, sustainable community.
