How to Get an Ad on Active Galiano until the end of May 2012
You may notice some new Directory Entries appearing in the Community Project Sponsors column on the right hand side of most Active Galiano pages. These are the result of folks who have made pledges for the latest winner of the Active Galiano Community Projects poll.

Testing Online Payments on Active Galiano
Dear Loyal Active Galiano Users,
Your notifications may bring you information about payment settings, products and various other money related things.
Pay no mind, as I am merely testing a system that has been requested, namely being able to pay for memberships in island organizations online. This effort is just beginning, so do please ignore any notifications that appear "product" related.
We may also configure the system to permit businesses to accept payments for their own products online, but that will require attaching Active Galiano to an organization for tax purposes.
Calling All Pot Heads
Dear Galiano Island,
I'm sending out a Call To All Pot Heads!
No, not THOSE kind of potheads. Pots! Like Pottery... things you "throw" on a "wheel" and then "fire" in a "kiln".
If you are interested in joining a pottery club, use your Active Galiano account to start a discussion in the "Galiano Gab" group.
At this point, you'd only really need to have a passing interest in getting involved. There are many hurdles to cross before we'll have a functioning club, but right now one would-be member has a kiln, another has a wheel. Both are looking for a space to put such things.

A group of ultimate frisbee players will be descending on Galiano this weekend, and we're putting together a game for Noon on Saturday, May 21.

Thanks to everyone who came (and helped) at IslandStyle's Basic Computer Skills drop-ins in November
Just wanted to thank everyone who came to the Drop-in Basic Computer Skills classes this November. We all had an amazing and energizing time each evening with all that teaching and sharing and building going on. It was a great success and helped so much towards keeping our IT Hub at IslandStyle Studios alive and active.
Thanks especially to Christian and Stephen for co-hosting the effort...Stephen in particular for having the idea and volunteering his time and skills - you guys are just too cool to be true geeks sometimes. :D
Movember Complete
As I walked out the door to go to work on the last day of Movember, my mother says, "Who do you think you are, some kinda Casanova?"
It has been a very hairy ordeal. I generally tend to keep a very clean cut appearance but Matt, manager of The Corner Store asked me to join him in a bold cause called Movemeber. I said, "you mean November?!" He then says, "no man, go check out www.movember.com," and that's how this all began.
I challenge all Galianoites, to post up a picture and a brief description of their experience during this whole Movember ordeal!
