In Print and In Your Email Inbox
Dear Galiano Island,
Active Galiano is getting over 20 unique visitors per day, and well over 750 visits per month. I hope we can double that in the coming months. Our website is now on the SECOND page when searching for "Galiano Island" on Google. [ I'm wondering if that's also true for folks doing the search from far away places. ]
GET READY FOR PRINT
I'm very keen to honor the effort that people are making by putting their stuff into Active Galiano and the best way for me to do that is to really promote their events and ads in ways that their audiences will find them.
With that in mind, I realize that we need to try to get this content printed and posted on the usual bulletin boards around town. (And maybe a ferry or two!) SO... do please make sure that your April events are up before the end of March as I'm setting myself a goal of printing it on that day and posting whatever is in there by then on the bulletin boards. Don't worry if you miss the deadline, printouts should make the online version that much more traveled, which will only help in the long run!
NEW FEATURES
I've put up a new fine grained "e-mail subscriptions and notifications" feature. I'm testing it out in hopes of replacing the one currently in use by a dozen of us. To use it, log in to your account, and click on "My Account". From there, choose "Notifications" (not "Notification Settings", if the new one works well, we'll get rid of that one under "Notification Settings") and follow the instructions.
In particular, I'd encourage you to look under "create a new subscription" at the bottom and choose "Content Type". In there you could choose to be notified of new "Classified Ads" or "Calendar Event" posts. I would recommend a notification interval of "Daily", although you can certainly choose as to your own tastes. The Classified Ads subscriptions will be particularly useful, since the Calendar Event postings might be far into the future, but Classified Ads postings seems to almost always be immediately relevant.
