Saturna Island (Fun!) Race

Hi Galiano Boater Folk,

I'm sending this out, just as a quick head's up that the Saturna Island Race is coming up on August 29th.

It's a great little race with an outer gulf island connection that tends to skim below the radar of the larger races around here. Dispensing with any mathematical handicapping, racers get 'round the course and then head for the Party on land, where each skipper gets their chance to explain why they won. Everyone votes, and not for themselves, and the "winner" of the race is declared. Cap it off with dinner at the Saturna Vinyard and you've got an event that's hard to beat.

I'm not sure how those of you most interested in boats without masts would fair at such a race, but I'm sure that a photography boat with no wake would be welcome. ;-)

Let me know if you're into this race. I may end up single handing it this year. Last year I went over the morning of (giving myself a long time to get there) and stayed the night.
