small seeds take strange turns

Dear Galiano,

Finally! the calendar seems to be letting up with not so many postings to point out. Except for the Transportation Advisory Committee Meeting (Hi Guys!).

That said, for floor hockey players, there's a really important Activity Center board meeting on Wednesday that hasn't yet made it's way to the calendar. (If you're really into floor hockey, you might want to contact one of your friendly activity center board members).

But really, couldn't we all use a break from EVENTS for a bit? I mean seriously. This island is WAY too busy.

That gives me the chance to point out how some of the other features of this website have taken off.

On the one hand, we're starting to see posts like this post for bookkeeping help in the Classified Ads section.

On the other hand, the Aggregator lit up with lots of references to the recent New York Times Travel article about our home. I've reacted by commenting on various websites that we are doing our best to keep the 'resort' image at arms length, and I've also invited folks to try to integrate into our community by checking out this calendar and seeing how vibrant life here is. So get ready for the unwashed hordes coming to Galiano Island with copies of the New York Times in their hands, but this time consider inviting them to join you on your boat or in your garden. ;-)

I'm happy to report that in the last week, the last 8 items posted to the site were put up by 6 different people. And that's only a few of the folks who are now comfortable putting up posts.

A tip: with ActiveGaliano.Org there is no real deadline for submissions. If you get it in long in advance, more people will see your post, and the odds that I include it in my mailout go way up.

Have a great (restful?) week!

Christian
